One of Miami’s most cultural events, The XIII International Ballet Festival of Miami, presented by Miami Hispanic Ballet, American Airlines, and Miami-Dade College takes place August 29th through September 13th, 2008 throughout a variety of locations. This two-week festival, directed and founded by Pedro Pablo Peña, begins with the reveal of the original poster for the event by Cuban artist Luis Miguel Rodriguez, as well as a Dance Film Series at a cocktail reception on Friday, August 29th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Tower Theater in Miami. The festival Closing Gala takes place at Jackie Gleason Theater on September 14th at 5:00 p.m.Under the direction of award winning choreographer and director Pedro Pablo Peña, and director’s assistant Eriberto Jimenez, a team from whom nothing less than excellence should be expected, it is no wonder the International Ballet Festival of Miami has become such a central event in the South Florida dance calendar, earning Pedro Pablo Peña the Key to the City of Miami. This year, Peña and Miami welcome an eclectic mix of participating ballet companies from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, England, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Slovenia and parts of the United States. The XIII International Ballet Festival of Miami is an established event that stands out as a true contribution to the art community of South Florida and more than a ballet festival, it is an opportunity for Miami locals and visitors to become a part of an audience that will experience nothing short of magical as dancers from all over the world leave everything on our Miami stages. www.miamihispanicballet.com |
